French toast

How To Make Great French Toast

 Makes 8 slices
What You Need
 Ingredients
 3 large eggs
 1 cup half-and-half
 Pinch of salt
 1 tablespoon of sugar
8 slices stale challah bread or other rich bread, sliced 1-inch thick
2 to 3 tablespoons butter, plus more for serving
 Toppings (see Recipe Notes)
 Equipment
 Measuring cups and spoons
8x8-inch cake pan, or other pan that will hold 4 slices of bread
 Whisk or fork
12- to 14-inch skillet
 Spatula
 Serving platter
 Instructions
1.Whisk the eggs, half-and-half, salt, and sugar in the cake pan until the egg is completely incorporated into the liquid.
2.Ready your cooking space: Place the frying pan on the stove over medium-low heat. Move the pan with the custard next to the stove.
3.Soak the French toast: Place four slices of bread into the custard to soak for one minute. Flip the slices and soak another minute.
4.Cook the French toast: While the bread is soaking, add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan. When it starts to foam, tilt the pan to completely coat the bottom. Lift one piece of bread from the custard and hold it briefly over the custard to let any excess drip off. Lay the bread gently in the frying pan. Repeat with additional pieces.
5.Flip the French toast: After a few minutes, peek under a slice of bread to see if the French toast has turned golden and browned. When it has, flip each piece and continue cooking. Monitor and adjust the heat so the toast doesn't burn.
6.Soak the remaining bread: When the first batch has nearly finished cooking, place the remaining four slices of bread in the custard to soak, one minute per side.
7.Cook the second batch: As the first batch of French toast finishes, transfer the pieces to a serving platter. Wipe out the frying pan. Return the pan to the flame, add 1 tablespoon of butter and cook the second batch of French toast as described above.
 Recipe Notes
•Additions for sweet French toast: You can add a touch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard or a tablespoon of brandy or a teaspoon of vanilla. Other popular additions include orange or lemon zest.
•Sweet toppings for French toast: Maple syrup is classic, but you can branch out into other kinds of syrups, fruit sauces, or jams. Fresh fruit and powdered sugar are also popular.
•For savory French toast: Omit the sugar in the custard. Top with sautéed vegetables, Parmesan cheese, and/or cooked ham or chicken.

     GRACE
I just want to forget how the whole world seems wrong most times. It's like the more one strives on his own, the more difficult everything seems to appear most times. I ask, why strive when the productivity of ones effort is futile. Then I came across a passage in the scripture which emphasizes on grace; it speaks that "it's not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of him whom the lord showth mercy,-" that scripture I believe is the being of most of our existence, cos no matter how much one struggles, if the grace of God is failing in such a mans life, then all his efforts are futile. and to buttress this, I recall the passage which says; "I will give mercy to whom I want- ". So, I guess my question is;
1: how do you know such grace has been bestowed on you?
2:can one obtain the grace if you have not been given naturally, like Jacob was given right form the womb? cos it's said that the "grace will only be given to whom I want to give it to you."
3:is there a criteria for obtaining the grace?
4: if you have not obtained the grace, is there point to striving since without the grace ones whole effort is futile and null and void?

Grace!!! These questions are but a few as regards to the issue of grace and it's complexity as regards to our spirituality. Grace it's a very complex part of spirituality which is complicated and too mysterious for an earthly man to fully comprehend. But then, I guess that is the sole base of Christianity. With our earthly understanding, we are incapable of comprehending spiritual/heavenly matters. And as all good, faithful Christians do, we apply faith to the heavenly incomprehensible subjects. We call on the power of faith to lead us through believing that all will be made crystal clear once we get to that wonderful place-Heaven.

Alas, while still on earth, and things don't work as planned despite all the strives, we still have to have faith that the higher authority has better plans for us and not that the grace just isn't genetically meant for us. Cos despite how the story of Esau and Jacob turned out, I still want to believe that there is a greater heavenly reason why one was prophesied to be gracefully-favored before conception while the other wasn't.

My first romance

In those awkward year,
You were near,

When the teenage struggles surfaced,
Your presence sufficed.

In teenage confusion,
Into each other, our love fused.
In you I found much comfort,
That couldn't be bought.

Later, to think there was this void,
That I just couldn't avoid,
Though it's reason I knew not,
But, I knew the remedy was not in the north.

Thinking about our come back as a race,
I knew I had to trace,
Trace back to when I first noticed this void,
Oh...with tears, I realize it was your absence,
That created this void I can't avoid,
The solution is only your presence.

Beloved let's makeup,
Together, let our romance lit up,
And make us so enviable,
That to crush us, the world wouldn't be able.

Our romance will no season, determine,
Our power, will no man undermine,
Cos' together we will soar,
Our voice, will so loud roar,
And the world will know of us...me,
And our romance...my poem.

Together, let's be the voice that's clear, distinct and unbreakable.
